Generate a PDF

This screen builds the PDF from a template and the data of a patient, a consultation, or a record. Generation starts on its own when the address includes the required parameters. Then you can review the document and, when it applies, save it on the record.

How it opens

It is usually not in the menu. You get here from:

  • a consultation header, with Generate PDF;
  • Generate prescription PDF;
  • the menu on the consultations list;
  • Generate PDF on the patient list (record);
  • a Generate PDF / Regenerate PDF link inside a saved form.

For those buttons to work, assign a default template in Templates.

What you see

  • The template title.
  • The PDF viewer (once it has been generated).
  • Save file, if there is a record to attach it to.
  • A loading skeleton while the document is built.

If the address is incomplete, you will see: Document generation requires a complete URL with the needed parameters.

What Diagnosticy does

  1. Loads the template.
  2. Takes the patient and/or consultation (or form) data.
  3. Fills the @placeholders and builds the PDF.
  4. Shows it in the viewer.

If something fails, use Try again.

Save the file

When the PDF is ready and you came from a consultation or a record, click Save file. The document is attached to that record. The success message is Saved successfully.

You can also download or regenerate the PDF from the form itself, depending on the buttons that appear (Download PDF, Regenerate PDF).

If the PDF looks incomplete

Check three things:

  1. The template has the correct data sources.
  2. The placeholders exist in the form.
  3. You filled the required patient or consultation fields before generating.

Tip

Generate a test PDF with a sample patient after you edit the template. That confirms margins, tables, and real data before you use it in a visit.
